The Hecker Aegira® mechanical seal HN 450 is a metal roller bellows for installation dimensions according to DIN 24960 ll1k. By means of a favourable design of the waves of the bellows the hydraulically loaded area is reduced in comparison to the seal face. This effects a balance ration less than 1 without any step on the shaft. Therefore higher fluid pressures and lower friction losses can be realized in comparison to conventional unbalanced mechanical seals that have the same installation dimensions. The metal roller bellows has the function of the spring, the torque-transfer and the dynamic secondary sealing of the seal face. A damage of the shaft sleeve through an axial moved O-Ring and the blockade of the seal face through deposits on the shaft is avoided. The friction heat of the sealing gap has no influence on the secondary seal. The operational safety is increased in comparison to conventional mechanical seal with a dynamic O-Ring. The open contour of the waves prevents an accumulation of solid particles. Therefore this seal ist predestinated for fluids that contain fibrous particles in the chemical industry and sludge in the sewage technology. |
![]() Due to the smooth outer contour the bellows can be cleaned easily. Therefore, it there are low requests of sterility the HN 450 is suitable for the use in the food - and pharmaceuticals industry. Standard-materials for seal face - and stationary ring are silicon-carbide and carbon graphite. The metal-bellow consists of Hastelloy. The HN 450 is suitable for pressures up to 20 bar, sliding velocities up to 15 m/s. The temperature range ist 40°C up to 200°C, dependant on the material of the secondary sealing.
